first nations desolation
Jono Adams, Scottish explorer and filmmaker Ashley Cowie and Colombian filmmaker Natalia Reyes Escobar are teaming up with First Nations guides to film the sacred animals of indigenous myths to produce a documentary for entry in the 2024 Vancouver International Film Festival.
This innovative documentary features First Nations elders reading mythology, legend and folklore while Canada’s animals and mythological landscapes will be captured using high-tech aerial videography and high-resolution slow motion techniques.
This film will feature 6 onscreen explorers and a 3 person strong film crew, who will all be based on a luxury cruiser (HQ) in desolation Sound, British Columbia, Canada. Launching drones from HQ the team will aerial prospect in landscapes and waterways that have been inhabited for at least 14,000 years. Filming breaching orcas, diving eagles and leaping salmon the team will search unexplored coastlines for ancient hunting camps, fishing stations and ceremonial structures.
Kayaking on remote rivers, camping on unexplored islands, trapping shellfish and rod fishing for salmon and halibut, you will join Jono, Ashley, Natalia and the indigenous guides penetrating deep into the Canadian wilderness experiencing the challenges of outdoor survival.
